Job Description

CARGO REGULATORY AFFAIRS MANAGER job vacancy at Emirates in Dubai. 

JOB PURPOSE: 

This position reports to the Manager Standards and Operational Safety and is responsible for compliance of worldwide Customs and Security Regulations and to ensure that the Emirates USA Cargo Operation is fully compliant with all internal standards and procedures and security, customs and other regulatory programs. The position monitors levels of operational activity against standards and procedures highlighting areas of non-compliance and recommend opportunities for improvement. The positions represents Emirates with IATA and other industry working groups to develop industry initiatives relating to cargo regulatory, security and customs processes. Job Outline:   - Research, interpret and distribute relevant information and develop standards to ensure compliance with worldwide customs and security regulations and how they apply to the USA Cargo Operation. - Assist all USA cargo stations with the implementation of SkyCargo standards and procedures and regulatory procedures and emergency amendments. - Serve as a liaison with USA FAA, Department of Homeland Security, Transportation Security Administration, Customs and Border Protection, Department of Transport and all other government departments tasked with the responsibility of insuring transportation safety, security and customs compliance. - Initiate and conduct training for all USA Cargo department staff on security and other regulatory related issues. - Coordinate and assist in the implementation of security and compliance programs at future Emirates destinations, onduct outstation assessments for new business opportunities and support the Manager Standards & Operational Safety with new station or change of Ground Handling Agents assessments. Report on the assessment results and recommend corrective measures for continous improvement. - Serve as liaison with USA legal resources that assist in regulatory compliance positions and interpretations. - Communicate with Emirates Headquarters regarding any changes to regulations affecting cargo regulatory compliance and associated changes to SkyCargo standards and procedures and serve as a liaison between Emirates headquarters, USA cargo departments and USA governmental agencies. - Support the Manager, Standards & Operational Safety with preparatory work for regulatory audits, certification and re-certification and conduct station audits related to security/TSA issues as well as audit of cargo operating procedures. - Engage and support customers with regards to regulatory compliance initiatives and activities.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

Qualifications: Degree or Honours (12+3 or equivalent) in a relevant subject   Experience:    8 years experience in the airline industry preferably in a cargo/logistics environment   Knowledge/skills: - Thorough knowledge of USA customs, security and other regulatory bodies - Thorough knowledge and understanding of IATA regulations - Customer centric style - Sound knowledge of regulations related to the handling of dangerous goods, perishables, pharmaceuticals and live animals - Skilled/trained auditor   Other Information - Whilst the position is preferably located in New York, we are open this position being re-located at any of our destinations within the USA. - In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification document form upon hire.
